ClearRoute Pilot (“ClearRoute”, “the app”, “we”) is an electronic flight bag that displays aeronautical charts, weather, terrain, and related advisory information for situational awareness. This policy describes the data the app handles and how it is used.
Advisory use only. ClearRoute is not certified for navigation. Always use official sources and approved equipment for flight operations.
Information we collect
- Account information (required). An account is required to use the app. We collect your email address, and a name if you provide one, to authenticate you and store your settings. If you use Sign in with Apple, we receive the identifier Apple provides and the email address you choose to share, which may be a private relay address.
- Location. With your permission, the app uses your device’s GPS location to show your aircraft on the chart and to retrieve nearby information (weather, airspace, NOTAMs, and airport identification). Location coordinates are sent to our servers only to fetch this nearby data. We do not store a history of your location and we do not use your location to track you.
- Feedback you submit. If you send a bug report or feature request from within the app, we collect the text you write, an optional contact email, and basic technical details (app version, device model, and operating system version) so we can diagnose issues and respond.
How we use your information
We use the information solely to provide and operate the app’s features—authentication, charts, weather, hazards, terrain, route briefings, and support. We do not sell your information, use it for advertising, or share it with third-party advertisers or data brokers.
Tracking
The app does not track you across other companies’ apps or websites. It contains no advertising or analytics SDKs and does not use the device Advertising Identifier (IDFA).
Data storage and security
Your authentication token is stored securely in the device Keychain. App preferences (such as map settings) are stored locally on your device. Information exchanged with our servers is transmitted over encrypted HTTPS (TLS).
Third-party data sources
The app retrieves aeronautical data (charts, weather, NOTAMs, and terrain) from our servers, which in turn derive from public U.S. government sources including the FAA, NOAA/National Weather Service, and USGS. Where you choose to generate an AI route briefing, the route and weather context is processed by a third-party AI provider (Anthropic) only to produce the briefing summary; it is not used to train models.
Data retention and deletion
Account and feedback information is retained while your account is active. To request access to, or deletion of, your information, use our support form.
Children
The app is not directed to children under 13 and does not knowingly collect their personal information.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The effective date above reflects the most recent version.
