ClearRoute Fuel (“the app”, “we”) shows crowdsourced aviation fuel prices on aeronautical charts and estimates what a fuel stop actually costs once the detour is counted. ClearRoute Fuel shares an account system with ClearRoute Pilot.
Advisory use only. Fuel prices are community-reported and FBO-published planning aids, shown with freshness and confidence labels. Always confirm price and availability with the FBO. The app is not certified for navigation.
Information we collect
- Account information (required). An account is required to use the app. We collect your email address and a name if you provide one to authenticate you and attribute reports. Sign in with Apple may provide an Apple identifier and the email address you choose to share.
- Fuel-price reports. Airport, FBO, fuel type, price, service type, source, observation time, and notes. Reports are shared publicly with other pilots and associated with your account for editing, flags, reputation, and confidence.
- Price-sign photographs. If you use Snap the Pump, the photograph is uploaded so an AI service can prefill the report for your confirmation. Location metadata is stripped before upload. Photographs are used only for price extraction and to substantiate the resulting report.
- Optional location. With permission, GPS helps find fuel, show position, and calculate a detour. Coordinates are sent only to perform the requested lookup or calculation. We do not store a history of your location or use your location to track you. You can search from an airport identifier without location permission.
- Preferences. Favorites, watchlist rules, alert thresholds, search defaults, and aircraft performance figures you enter.
- Notification token. If you enable alerts, we store the Apple push token needed to deliver them.
- Report flags. We record flags and the submitting account to prevent duplicates and audit moderation.
How we use your information
We use information to operate authentication, fuel-price search, true-cost and route calculations, favorites, alerts, reporting, trust scoring, moderation, and support. We do not sell information or use it for third-party advertising.
Tracking
The app does not track you across other companies’ apps or websites, use the device Advertising Identifier, or contain third-party advertising SDKs.
Data storage and security
Authentication tokens are stored in the device Keychain. Preferences and offline copies of fuel data, favorites, and viewed airport diagrams may be stored locally. Offline reports may be queued until connectivity returns. Server traffic uses encrypted HTTPS (TLS).
Third-party data sources and processors
Aeronautical data is derived from public U.S. government sources including the FAA and USGS. Snap the Pump photographs are processed by Anthropic to extract the displayed price and are not used to train models.
Data retention and deletion
Account information and saved preferences are retained while the account is active. Account deletion removes the account and personal information. Fuel reports may remain in anonymized form because they are a shared community record. You may request access to or deletion of information through the support form.
Children
The app is not directed to children under 13 and does not knowingly collect their personal information.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy. The effective date above identifies the version currently presented.
